Issue Date: 1973
Abstract: In the present dissertation various methods for the calculation of switching surges are discussed. Laplace transform method for 3"phaae transmission line and genet%., ation of braneh-time matrix for the calculation of switching surges are discussed in the detail. By the method of Laplace transform, three cases of the transmission line, energisation of open circuited, trans. mission line, energisation of resistive load terminated line and de-energisation of resistive load terminated line' while it wq.e operating in steady-state conditions, are described. In this method the ground return path of the current is also considered. Branoh-time matrix is generated, in a way parallel to the well known Lattice diagram method, for the calculation of the voltages at the different buses of an inter-connected system. Modified Fourier method and limitations of this for application on the digital computer is also d scussed in brief. Computer programs and flow charts are given at every stage of the work,
