Authors: Ahmad, Shamsuddin
Keywords: ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING;INDUCTION MOTOR DESIGN;DIGITAL COMPUTER;SYNTHESIS METHOD
Issue Date: 1972
Abstract: The present work deals with the application of digital computer to the design of squirrel cage induction motors. To start with a flow chart has been developed for the design of cage type of motors conforming to standard frames, A program is prepared using this flow chart and the designs of stator and rotor have been worked out using Synthesis method of design. The method has been extended to the design of cage motors not conforming to standard frame sizes,. Next, the flow charts have been developed for optimiza-tion of design of cage motors using Direct Search Technique. A program is prepared using this technique and suitable values of specific loadings and current density are obtained for a minimum cost. The complete optimized designs for induction motors of different ratings are worked out using this optimi-zation technique.
