Issue Date: 1971
Abstract: For better performance of a power system and for increased stability greater reliance has to be placed on well designed control equipment. Since voltage regulator and governor are the main components of the control loop, it is important to know how their various parameters affect the system stability and the system performance. In the present work this problem has been taken up and is analysed in two parts. In part-I, a characteristic equation, expressed as a function of adjustable parameters have been obtained to describe the system behaviour for small disturbances. Using the method due to 8il jak, phase-plane technique have been applied to study the effect of voltage regulator and governor parameters on system stability. In part•II, the lineari sed system model is obtained in the state -space form X = AX and Liapunovw s direct method has been applied to study the effect of the adjustable parameters on the system performance index. An IBM-1620 Digital Computer was used to carry out the calculations.
