Abstract: Multi-view video sequences consist of a set of monoscopic video sequences captured at the same time by several cameras at different locations and angles. The importance of these sequences is evidenced by recently proposed Multi-View Profile (MVP) extension to the MPEG-2 video compression standard, and their explicit incorporation into the future to MPEG-4 standard. These Multi view video sequences contain 3-D information that can be used to deliver new 3-D multimedia services. Due to the large amount of data, it is important to efficiently compress these multi-view sequences to deliver more accurate 3D information. This dissertation proposes an efficient Multi View Compression (MVC) scheme that provides a complete encoding and Decoding solution with a low complexity. This includes exploitation of inter and intra-view redundancies for achieving high coding efficiency. In this report, we present a new method for Multiview video compression that is based on 4 Dimensional Discrete Cosine Transforth (4-D DCT). We call it as XYWZ algorithm. For reducing computational' complexity in terms number of additions and multiplications, we also proposed-a fast algorithm for 4-D Discrete Cosine Transform (4-D DCT). We compared our proposed method with the previous method using 3-D DCT in terms of Average Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Compression Ratio for developing efficient Multiview codec
