Abstract: | Small hydropower (SHP) is one of the most used renewable energy. The success of the SHP depends on the cost effective technology. The Electro mechanical machines are the key components in SHP station. Unexpected failure and sub optimal, operation of these machines can have a significant economic impact due to high cost of emergency repairs and lost revenue during an extended forced outage. To ensure the power plant is running satisfactorily and to improve the performance of the power plant, testing of these machines will be conducted. In the present dissertation work, models are developed for the analysis of the test data obtained from the testing of the SHP turbines, measurement of insulation resistance of the generators and the winding resistance measurements of the stator and rotor of the generators. The tests that are performed on Small hydro turbines for field acceptance in accordance with IEC 60041 and IEC 62006 (draft) are considered for model development. This model consists of maximum power output test, turbine / unit efficiency tests and index tests. The efficiency tests are considered with discharge measurement. This model is helpful in analysis of the test data and error analysis for the measurements in testing of small hydro turbine / turbine-generator units. |
