Abstract: In conventional type hydropower plant energy is generated far away from consumer load. To supply the electricity from generating station to consume different grids are available. But these grids are available only urban and large rural locality. Remote area are still in untouch. To fulfil the requirement of electricity to remote hilly areas small power project has been installed where the hydro potential is available. These power plant has very low ratings compared to conventional type power plant. Conventional type project uses flow type governor to maintain the frequency at appropriate level. But as the rating of hydropower plant decreases cost (per kW) of generated output increases rapidly, and cost of small power plant should be as low as possible use of conventional type flow control governor make the scheme very costly sometime unacceptable. Therefore an inexpensive controller is require at these site. The load controller controls the electrical load rather than flow of water through hydro turbine. In this type of control speed of generator, hence output remains constant. This method has very low cost and very low voltage and frequency variation. Although flow type governor show better performance then load controller but there are costly for small project. In present thesis discussion is done on use of induction machine as single-phase induction generator, single-phase induction generator poses simple design low cost and easy control. Hence these are very, valuable in remote areas. Then description of load controller i.e. purpose of controlling, principle of control has been discussed. In last the working of component of load controller and, overall controller has been discussed.
