Abstract: The accelerated introduction of renewable energy resources into the world's energy market is a necessary and beneficial element in an integrated development strategy. Renewable energy resources are distributed so widely that they are indigenous to almost every country in significant quantities. These sources like solar, wind, biomass, small hydro etc. have the potential to make substantial contribution to -econo:,sic development by distributing economic activity over a wider area, and can meet rural energy needs thereby slowing the migration of rural people to the cities, and alleviating many socio-economic problems. The transition form traditional to modern farming has led to a sharp increase in the demand for commercial energy. Presently, the grid power from large hydro/thermal/ nuclear power plants is distributed to almost all urban and rural areas of the country while of power supply situation in remotely located hilly regions is extremely bad and the power obtained by combining various renewable energy sources through integration appears to be the only hope to solve the power problems of these areas-. Therefore, integrated renewable energy system can only fulfil such demand in most efficient & appropriate manner. Integrated renewable energy systems have been found to result in optimum matching of the needs with energy availability (energy resources). The present study aims to develop an integrated renewable energy systems for meeting the energy demand of Kanvashr-arn village in Pauri Garhwal district of Uttar Pradesh. The energy resources availability and energy consumptions pattern have been evaluated based upon the- actual survey of the area. Based upon the availability of renewable energy resources, consumption pattern and-unit_cost of energy for various energy sources like solar, biornass_ wind_and small hydro, a computer programme has been developed to estimate the demands in cost effective manner.
