A mathematical model has been developed for simulating two dimensional (r-z plane), unsteady state, axis-symmetric, radial flow in an unconfined aquifer towards .a pumped partially penetrating well. It permits, among others, estimation of temporally and spatially distributed drawdowns in response to a constant or time-variant discharge. The model is based upon a numerical solution of the governing partial differintial equation. The numerical solution is obtained by the finite difference technique employing Iterative Alternating Direction Implicit Explicit scheme (IADIE). Unlike the prevalent analytical as well as numerical solutions, the proposed solution does not presume a continuous screen and uniform radial velocity distribution across the screen. The model has been used to analyse the pumping test data from a village Tugalpur Haldona.en_US
