Abstract: It is usually considered necessary to monitor drawdowns in observation wells sufficiently distant from the pumping well. Such a practice eliminates many of the uncertainties inherent in the drawdown data. from the pumping well itself. However, the necessity of observation wells contributes towards the high cost of pumping tests. Now, if draw. ,,down data from pumped well are analysed in the conventional fashion, it gives misleading results of aquifer parameters. The present study aims at developing an algorithm for a rational analysis of time-drawidown data from a pumped well. The algorithm is based on minimizing the sum of squares of difference between the observed and computed drawdowns. A finite difference model of 2-D axis symmetric transient non-linear flow towards a pumping well has been developed for computing the drawdowns. The model has been applied to analyse the pumping tests data of pumped well from sites, Achrol, Mathana and Badshah *zr
