Abstract: "Simulation Studies of Subernarekha Multi-reservoir System" is an attempt to study a real-life large scale complex system. The study has been made possible with the help of a modified computer program based on an operation policy set out for this system study. Subernarekha basin system consists of 5 storage reservoirs ( out of which 2 in Bihar and 3 in Orissa ) and 2 diversion structures (both in Bihar). As per TPA it has to meet different demands like M&I watersupply, Irrigation and power generation of the three riparian states, i.e., Bihar, Orissa and West Bengal. simulation was carried out for 10 years for the length of run-off data available at the different sites. Several trials were made so that M&I water supply demand can be met 100% of the times, energy demand can be met 90% of the times and Irrigation demand cand be met 75% of the times. The best possible allocations as far as possible against the target demamds (as per project proposal) were obtained by simulation study. In the following few lines the allocations made available are bracketted against target demands at different sites.
