Current exterior gateway protocol, BGP has problems of scalability because of increasing number of networks as well as usage of the internet. These problems can be solved by switching to a new architecture called new inter domain routing architecture (NIRA) which even provides user's choice to select routes at the autonomous system level. Every Autonomous System has its set of policies restricting traffic from certain regions of the internet. This checking policy is crucial in any exterior gateway protocol. In this thesis, architecture for policy checking has been proposed for NIRA. It uses stateless approach, using the information collected at different routing registries and the removing inconsistencies between different registries and deploying these policy records in NIRA. Policy checking along with routing in NIRA will distribute only a part of the internet prefixes and topology information to the requested domains which adheres to policies by different domains during its route discovery, thus sending routes with sequence of domains, where every route agrees to contractual agreements of the domains in their sequence of domains against source and destination domain specified in the requested packet, rather than sending whole of the internet topology.en_US
