Issue Date: 1988
Abstract: Estimation of a flood of designed frequency has an important role in the hydraulic design of water resources project and engineering structures, including dam spiliwayso Bridges and flood protection works. Flood estimation are also required for the safe operation of flood control ctru-cturoe„ For taking engineering measures such as maintenance of flood liveesp evaluating the people to safe localities etc* For ungauged basing while calculating water tjay bridges or while designing some other hydraulic structure it is also essential to assess flood of desired frequency. The designer has to take greater care in the estimation of the design flood. There ore so many methods for studying on flood frequency analysis. In this study an attempt has been made to derive flood magnitudes of desired frequency at 16 sites of Mekong river br.sin by at alta frequency analysis and regional frequency analysis approaches.
