Abstract: In Kashmir Valley floods are causing devastation almost every alternate year . These floods mostly occur in the valley's big river viz. Jhelum. In the present study floods of different frequencies have been estimated for different sites of Jhelum river and its various tributaries using at site frequency analysis approach and regional frequency ana-lysis approach. Annual peak discharge of 32 years for the main river sites and 17 to 28 years for the tributaries of the main .,a river have been analysed. Stage-discharge relationships have been developed for various sites in order to convert peak stages to discharges. The parameters of the rating curves have been obtained using least square approach and verified from double log plotting and physical considerations. At-site flood frequency analysis has been carriedout by the following methods: (i) Log normal (with two parameters) distribution by method of moments.
