Issue Date: 1989
Abstract: Water which is one of the most important mineral and vital of all life, played an important role in the past and in future. This resources are available sometimes scare, sometimes plentiful and unevenly distributed both in space and time. India is a tropical country. The rainfall of the year is mostly concentrated during monsoon season usually from June to October. To study the behaviour of the catchment in asymmetric manner, availability of hydrological data Is an important factor. To deal with the present study, IB Irrigation Project is a reservoir across river IB a major tributary of Mahanadi river to irrigate an ayacut Of 140,000 Ha C.C.A. (G.C.A. of which 807. C.C.A.) . This is now under the compliance of Central Water Commission, New Delhi. its total catchment area is 5649 sq ,m. and Free Catchment area is 2676.80 sq .m. Reservoir capacity at F.R.L. 272.50 is 158923 Ha.m. and capacity at D.S.L. 252.50 in Is 9149 Ham. According to availability of data of this project, 'the scope of this work is limited to the following: (1) Yield study by (a) Development of monthly yield series from the observed catchment rainfall by rainfall runoff correlation. (b) Generation of monthly flow sequence using Thomas Fiering Model (Perenial River) . (c) Harmonic analysis of observed and generated flow.
