Abstract: | Flood Flow analysis is one of the most important sub-ject of the hydrology. The movement of flood wave in the channel and flood plain is quite complex. In a big and elongated shape catchment like Ti;PTI BASIN, the occurrance and distribution of rainfall varies considerably from one and to other. It is often required to prepare a hydrologic model for such basin for real time flood forecasting and other purposes. In this study attempt has been made to prepare a flood forecasting model, for the Tapti basin upto a multipurpose dam Ukai, at. the -,ta. end .LPfv: rover. The Tapti basin upto Ukai has been divided into nine sub basiri at locations where Gauge and discharge observation sites are functioning. Two linear hydrologic routing techniques named conventional Muskingum routing procedure and unit response method of open channel flow routing are compared on flows of Tapti river. The comparision of techniqueshas been done by evaluating the efficiency of simulating t'ae observed hydrograph, its magnitude and time of peak computed. It is found that when data contains some error, the Muskingum routing technique is more suitable. |
