dc.description.abstractThe present work deals with the Computer Assisted Geohydrological Studies of Bheri Terai Area of Nepal using available data. The study is mainly directed to evaluation of hydraulic parameters of confined and leaky confined types of aquifer and the quality of groundwater in the area with reference to the prevailing hydrogeological conditions. Geologically, Bheri Terai is fringe area of Gangetic alluvial plain composed of porous and permeable sand and gravel layers alternating with clay horizons. Ample rainfall and existing perennial rivers in the area seems to contribute to substantial recharge to the groundwater resources. The study of lithological logs of boreholes and litho-logical sections reveal that the aquifers are dominantly found in Marshy land and Bhaber zone both of newer alluvi ;p. All types of aquifer are found in the area viz. unconfined,. confined and leaky confined. Watertable aquifers are mainly found in Bhaber deposit generally at shallower depth where-as,confined and leaky confined aquifers are mainly restricted to Marshy land at deeper depth. However, only a few wells show flowing artesian conditions especially in the north-eastern part of the study area.en_US
