EXACT BOUNDARY CONDITIONS
|Abstract:||A critical study of suitable boundary conditions for the solution of Reynolds equation has been made. The following boundary conditions for the full and partial journal bearings have been used for simpler analysis and applications P (0, 2)=D P (a, z) = a (X,©)co ax P( X, ± b/2) = 0 where P =' P(X,z). X and z are measured from the line of centres in the circumferential direction, and from the centre of the bearing in the axial, direction respectively. ThP solution of Reynolds equation for the above boundary conditions has been suggested in the following form o~ o~ P _ .amn sin c(m X Co s 'Yn z where amn are the arbitrary .constants. The value of arbitrary constants have been obtained using the variational method of B.G. Galerkin. According to Galerkins method, assumed function for the solution and the differential equation after substitution of function to the differential equation should be orthogonal. On the basis of the given solution, load carrying capacity, Sommerfeld number and friction coefficient f(R/C) have been calculated for different set of bearing parameters and for different types of bearing configurations These have . been com- pared with the existing data• Results obtained on the basis of present solution and those of existing results obtained on the basis of different methods, agree to one another very closely|
