dc.description.abstractThe extent of ground water development in a basin depends on the behaviour of ground water system of the basin. The aquifer response models can be employed to determine quantitatively the extent of pumping required to affect drainage or . artificial recharge to maintain a predecided minimum water table elevation in the basin. These models are almost always distributed in time and may be lumped or distributed in space. A major input requirement of distributed aquifer response model is the distribut~:d aquifer parameters. The most commonly used method of evaluating the aquifer parameters is based upon the analysis of test pumping data The procedure of test pumping is for too expensive and elaborate to be carried out at large number of locations. Also analysis of test ;pumping data is based on so many assuffiDtions which are not satisfied in the real field conditions.en_US
