Abstract: A partially penetrating well is one whose; screened or perforated sections do not fully penetrate the aquifer thickness. The partially penetrating wells are employed for sevF!ral ground water problems. OF many other considera-tions, economic considerations are the most important factor, which may be taken into account in drilling a partially penetrating well instead of a fully penetrating we 11. Many analytical solutions with various degrees of ac cur acie s are avail able for steady state as we 11 as for unsteady State flow conditions. All these solutions are based on some assumptions as under: (1) The radius of the well is infinitesimally small. (2) The aquifer is homogeneous, isotropic and horizontal in position. (3) The aquifer is infinite in areal extent. (4) The discharge is uniform along the well bore. (5) The well penetrates only or part of the aquifer from the top/bottom.
