In this work a study of multi..reservoir system (Bargi, Tawa, Narmada Sagar, and Navagam) in Narmada Basin has been dealt. Recently the Narmada Water Disputes Tribunal has given award about the sharing of Narmada waters between the disputed States of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. This gave rise for a need of systematic study to be carried out to study the final proposals based on the tribunal award and to suggest and recommend improvements, if any. Simulation technique has been used to get the maximum net benefits. Systematic sampling is used for revising the reservoir storage capacities and also the annual irrigation targets. The proposals based on the tribunal award has been considered as a basis of study. Sharing of water ( as per Tribunal award) between M.P. & Gujrat has been kept in mind while modifying the irrigation target. A flexible operating procedure is used for storing and releasing water from a reservoir and among reservDirs. In the study, out of the two conservation purposes priority has been given to irri4ation, i.e. water is first drawn from the reservoir to meet the target output for irrigation and then to meet the energy requirernnts as energy deficits can be made up by purchase from outside the system or by thermal power plants. DEC 2050 computer of University of Roorkee Regional Computer Centre was used for the computations. The study suggests some improvements in the original proposal (Tribunal award) in optimizing the net benefits from the system.en_US
