dc.description.abstractThe aim of reservoir operation is to intooduce a set of rules for storing and releasing water from a reservoir of a given water resources system. For a multipurpose reservoir it is aimed to maintain the balance of distributia)n of water in different aspects and an effective compromise among the various uses to which the project is designed. In the present study, the operation is studied by using simulation to find out optimal allocation of water resources for the various purposes i.e. irrigation, hydro- power and flood control for the project. In the study, nonthly operational equations are obtained and used for opera ting the reservoir. Out of the two conservation purposes priority is given to irrigation , i.e. water is First drawn from res-:rvoir to meet the target output for Lrrigation and then to meet the energy requirements as anergy deficits can be made up by purchase from outside :he system or by thermal power plants.en_US
