dc.description.abstractOptimal position of augmentation tubewell has been found out by using discrete Kernel approach for two cases: when augmentation is done by a single well and when augmentation is done by lines of wells comprising of staggered wells on both sides of the canal. The cost function consists of cost of pumping, cost of il'n%ng a"`1 transportation and negative of the benefit associated with net quantity of effective pumped water available at the canal supply point. The variation in cost with respect to distance from the canal is plotted and the minimum value of cost function is found out. The induced. recharge due to pumping is quantified for various distance of the well from canal. The increase in benefit by lining the canal has been-also found out.en_US
