Title: DESIGN AND OPERATION OF MULTIPURPOSE SALMA DAM USING SIMULATION
Authors: Roohani, Mohd. Sarwar
Keywords: HYDROLOGY;MULTIPURPOSE SALMA DAM;SIMULATION;SALMA DAM RESERVOIR
Issue Date: 1980
Abstract: The study deals with the operation of SALMA DAM RESERVOIR in Afghanistan, Design and operation of Multii purpose salama dam is studied by using simulation to find out the optimal allocat- ions of water resources for the projects Simulation is a techni.iue that funds the increased use in the analysis of water resources problems or it is a procedure which duplicates the essence of a system, In this 1;roblem simulation is used for two pruposes : 1. For desing prupose: that we could get the best combi-nation of three design variables viz; allocation of capacity of reservoir, Annual Irrigation target and Annual maximum generation of power. 2. For operation purpose:— Monthly operational equations are obtained and used for operating the reservoir. IBM 370 computer of Indi-)n Institute of petrolium,Dehradun was used for generating the synthetic stream flow data. DE'- 2050 computer of the Roorkee University Regional Computer Centr:'e is use for simulation studies.
