Using discr;oIv,c kernel end Duhamcl's - nproach, the return flow across n stream in responsf to abstraction of water by a line of wells has been obtained quantita- tively by solving Boussinesq equetion. The variation of return flow with respect to time for d.iii ercnt location of line of wells hs been studied. `'„hc discrete kernels are presented for various aquifer characteristics such that the response of the aquifer to variable pumping rate can be foundout. Also. the storage created at different.. time due to pumping has been evaluated_, is will give an idea to the planner in relation to conjunctive use the extent of storage available in the underground. The varia-tion of return flow with length of the cream has been f foundout which will be helpful in solvin` the inter-state/ inter-district river water dispute.en_US
