Issue Date: 2010
Abstract: Electric power sector in the world has been changing from vertically integrated utilities to the new deregulated and competitive environment which is resulting benefit to customer and society. In this new environment reliability is the one of the main issue. Due to unbundling of power system structure in new environment transmission system reliability is a major part of power system reliability. In this report different indices for transmission system reliability is calculated using AC optimal power flow and by DC optimal power flow. The objective of power flow problem is minimizing the load curtailment in the system under some constraint. By the load curtailment, state probability and failure frequency at particular state different reliability indices at a particular bus and for the whole system is calculated. The calculation is made during a fixed load and by incorporating the load duration curve. The system study is doing for two test system one is six bus reliability test system and other is IEEE 14 bus system.
