In this dissertation work, a simulation model is developed for Canal Drop small hydroelectric plant to study its behavior under normal and emergency conditions. The various components of small hydroelectric plant like open channel, governor, and Semi-kaplan turbine, synchronous generator, exciter, transmission Line are considered in simulation. Using this developed software application, the dynamic and transient stability of a small hydroelectric plant under isolated and connected to Infinite Bus operating conditions can be studied when subjected to disturbances such as- load-variation, three-phase symmetrical fault, speed reference setting variation. This will also help in tuning the parameters of governor and exciter.en_US
