As identity fraud has increased immensely in our society, the importance of having a reliable personal identification system based on biometrics is being felt. Among all other biometrics, fingerprints has been used for personal identification for a long time as it is reliable and has sufficient discriminatory features. The most widely used fingerprint representation is the minutiae based representation. Such systems have been successfully implemented in various applications. A minutiae based fingerprint recognition system is implemented and its performance tested. This target can be mainly decomposed into image preprocessing, feature extraction and feature match. For each sub-task, some classical and up-to-date methods in literatures are analyzed. Based on the analysis, an integrated solution for fingerprint recognition is developed for demonstration. The demonstration code is implemented in MATLAB.en_US
