Issue Date: 2007
Abstract: Single axle bogie is a new and novel idea for passenger transport. As it is not possible to buy a standard bogie equipped with single axle today, some research on single axle bogie has been reported by Japanese Railways Association (JRA) and Swedish Railways. However there is limited information available internationally on the single axle bogies. In this report dynamic behavior of single axle bogie has been assessed by evaluation of performance characteristics such as curving behavior, stability and ride quality using multibody Railway dynamics software GENSYS. The report comprises modeling five models of railway vehicle with single axle bogie having different lengths along with Track on GENSYS. The performance characteristics obtained by the Time domain simulation have been compared with those of Indian Railways ICF coach. A comparison has also been done with the already researched JRA single axle bogie and Swedish Railways, single axle bogie (FREJA). The vehicle with single axle bogie has shown a better stability, good curving behavior in ti
