Abstract: In this study, the recirculation flow of water inside a ventilated cubic cavity has been investigated for different locations of the exit water. The inlet flow of water in to the cavity has a parabolic velocity profile and laminar flows has been considered for low Reynolds numbers based on the characteristic length of the cavity. The Reynolds number for pipe flow has been assumed 2000. The flow visualization of water inside the cavity has been done by injecting dye into the flowing water and by photographic study. Numerical results were also obtained by the CFD analysis using commercial software FLUENT 6.1. The laminar model and standard k-cw turbulence model was used for the analysis. The numerical analysis of the problem has been attempted by using different turbulence models available in FLUENT solver. It was found that k-ce model gave satisfactory results which is understandable. Also the present work is devoted to the experimental study of the interaction of a turbulent plane jet with the flowing fluid inside the cavity
