A computerized test system for protective relays has been designed in this dissertation work. The motivation behind choosing this topic lies in the importance of relay testing and possibility of performing this time consuming, complicated task with the help of a personal-computer. The modern power system is very complex and even though protective equipment form 4% to 5% of the total cost involved in the system, they play a very important role in the system design and good quality of reliable supply. Accurate and thorough testing of relays is very essential to ensure that the protective gear always operates reliably on faults. The conventional methods of testing protective relays use massive test benches and Artificial Transmission Lines. These are capable of simulating a mini power system in the laboratory. The testing with conventional test equipments is complicated, time consuming and expensive....en_US
