Most equipments are used in applications where one or more enviornmental conditions exceed those defined as room conditions, the ambient conditions prevailing during calibration. Also they may be subjected to these conditions during transportation itself. Under such condition they can take a shift in their calibration curve, and they can even be damaged and stop operating entirely. Therefore enviornmental tests must be performed to verify that the equipment performs as specified. Vibration tests are performed to determine the effects of vibratory acceleration on the equipment's performance. Sinusoidal vibration can be generated and applied to the equipment as per the test-specification. Shock tests are also performed to determine the performance variation of equipment after exposure to mechanical shocks. Acceleration amplitude & duration of such shock pulses depends on the differnent test standard. In the present work, a computerised vibration and shock test system for energy meters is developed which fulfills the specifications of Indian standard code IS: 13010 (1990)..en_US
