Abstract: The work carried out in this project deals with the arrangement of experimental setup, collection of data for the working range of different variables and study of influence of welding parameters like Current, Voltage, and Welding speed on the mechanical properties of Submerged Arc welds of 15Mo3 steel. Submerged Arc Welding is one of the chief metal joining processes employed in industry because of its high quality, high deposition and reliability. So I emphasized on this process. Copper coated alloy steel wire of AWS specification (SFA 5.23:EA2) of 3.15 mm diameter has been used as a filler wire with flux of basicity index equal to 1.6. This experiment is based on double-V-type of groove. The microstructure of the weld and Heat Affected Zone (HAZ) adjacent to fusion line, are studied under optical microscope and correlated with the welding parameters. Micro-hardness of weld, HAZ and base material are evaluated and correlated with welding parameters. Finally the tensile properties of the weldment are studied and correlated with welding parameters.
