Embedded structures lie pile or pier well system of bridges subjected to earthquake type of excitation, are af-fected by input nniotion.Under dynamic loading soil pile structure interaction plays a significant role. In this thesis experimental and analytical studies have been taken up to study the lateral response of pile top in dry and dense sand for the purpose of assessing its behavior when used as foundation of any structure subjected to dynamic loads. The experiments were conducted on model pile of 1.9 cm diameter embedded in dense deposit, in tank.Tests were con-ducted for different type of loading. Lateral response under sinusoidal loading firstly at tank bottom and secondly at pile top was studied.Study was also made for impact type of loading. Impact on side of tank and pile top was given. Sinusoidal loading was applied by Oscillator and Motor system. Acceleration pickups were used to get the accelera-tion record...en_US
