Abstract: Polarography is a branch of electroanalytical chemistry which deals with the measurement and interpretation of current-voltage relationship during the electrolysis of a solution between the two electrodes, one of which is very small. Among electrochemical methods of analysis, the importance of polarography is widely recognised and the technique has been able to carve out a place for itself in most of the analytical laboratories. Using the technique, it is possible simultaneously to obtain qualitative and quantitative information about the analytical composition of a solution. The increase in the applications of polarography is mainly due to the fact that several elements can often be determined quantitatively in a solution without a lengthy preparation of the solution and also due to the speed, with which polarograms can be recorded in no time with the availability of modern instruments. The method is also most versatile and ideal for the determination of trace impurities. Polarography is one of the well established techniques for studying inorganic complex compounds in solution. Asides this, the technique offers a useful working tool in the hands of organic chemists. The possibilities that polarography offers for the understanding of basic principles of both electrochemical processes and electroanalytical methods attracted the interest of numerous workers to the field, and resulted in what is called renaissance of electrochemistry...................
