Authors: Deka, Niren
Keywords: EARTHQUAKE ENGINEERING;CRACKED GRAVITY DAM;EARTHQUAKE FORCES;KOYNA DAM
Issue Date: 1982
Abstract: The dynamic analysis of dam which has cracked due to earthquake forces is required to be m'1 in order to know the change in behaviour of the dam during fu'cvre earthquake. In this thesis, the behaviour of Koyna dam which was cracked in Koyna earthquake of Leo. 11, 1967 is taken for the purpose of analysis, The analysis is done by finite element method with the help of step by step direct integration due to Newmark. Eight-noded is oparame tric parabolic elements are used for idealization. S.ix-°noded joint elements are intro-- d uc d in the cracked region. and the behaviour is stuldiad by decreasing modulus of elasticity in the joint elements unc? er plane strain condition. The analysis is also carried otit for . only 8-••noded is.oparametric el~ments ....
