Issue Date: 1980
Abstract: Explicit central difference scheme is used for the dynamic analysis of variety of planar structures with large number of nodes and members. The diagonal lumped mass and mass proportional damping is employed. The equations of dyna-mic equilibrium are in coupled form. The time step of integ-ration should be less than the critical time step. The critical time step is seen to be equal to the time required by longitudi-nal wave to propagate between the two nearest nodes. In all the structures the time history response is found and the dynamic response has been plotted vs time. The time history response enables us to study the building up of responses with the app-lication of earthquake type of excitation and externally applioc load. : cplicit scheme has been seen to give earthquake response results in plane structures without any spurious frequencies.
