Issue Date: 2002
Abstract: In the present work, investigations have been carried out to study the influence of flux basicity index on mechanical, metallurgical properties and bead characteristics of welds produced by Twin-Arc SAW process. For comparison of results testing of welds, produces by Single-Arc SAW have also been carried out. It has been observed from the experimental results that tensile, impact, and hardness characteristics of the weld metal improved with Twin-arc as compared to Single arc SAW process. However, width of HAZ reduces with in case of Twin arc as compared to Single arc process. Bead characteristics for Twin arc process were inferior to Single arc SAW process. Partial penetration joints were achieved with Twin-arc process compared to Single-arc process
