Abstract: An experimental study has been made to understand the influence of flux basicity on the fatigue properties of multi-pass submerged arc welds. The flux composition, which plays a very important role in determining the weld metal composition and accordingly alter the weld metal characteristics. Thus present study deals with the changing of various property of weld metal with the change in flux basicity index. The welds are made by using C-Mn filler wire for different fluxes having different basicity index. The welds are obtained by butt-welding of 16mm thick steel plates. Thereafter the fatigue test result indicate that the fatigue strength of the weld metal decreases with the increase in the flux basicity index however, various mechanical property such as yield strength, ultimate tensile strength are found to increase with the increase in flux basicity
