Issue Date: 2002
Abstract: Induced strain actuations are being used to control the extension, bending and twisting of a plate like structures. Plates with distributed induced strain actuators are being used: to control pointing of precision instruments in space; to control structural borne noise; and to change aerodynamic shape for vibration reduction, flutter suppression and gust alleviation. A lot of work has been conducted for modeling of a plate with induced strain actuation. Present work is an attempt to model a plate with induced strain actuation. Such a model treats isotropic plates that are entirely or partially covered with piezoelectric actuators. The model should incorporate surface bonded and embedded actuators and be accurate for static applications
