Abstract: Sloshing is the dynamic behaviour of liquid due to oscillation of its free surface in moving container. The slosh behaviour of liquid in a horizontally moving upright cylindrical container is studied experimentally. The container has rigid supports. The damping in a liquid system is enhanced through ring shaped compartments. Different models of container are considered such as container with and without compartments. Containers with two and three compartments have been considered. It is found that force generated due to sloshing is considerably less in containers with compartments as compared to the case without compartment. This is true for different aspect ratios i.e. liquid depth to container radius.
