The optimized spot weld has been found to have higher load carrying capacity, strength and fatigue properties than the spot weld prepared at AWS recommended parameter. The load carrying capacity, electrode indentation and hardness of repair spot weld has been found to be higher than the optimized spot weld but the strength of repair spot weld has been found to be lower than that of the optimized spot weld. The columnar structure of weld nugget and grain size in HAZ of repair spot weld has been found to be refined in comparison to those of the optimized spot welden_US
