Abstract: | Flow studies over a ribbed surface is complex and is yet not known completely. A. rib disturbs the flow and leads to generation of eddies and secondary flow. It is observed that the heat transfer is maximum at the point of reattachment. Hence, the prediction of the point of reattachment is important for enhancement of heat transfer rate. So it is proposed to determine the point of reattachment of flow over the ribbed surface. For determining the reattachment length experimentally, square shape and triangular shape ribs are used. Tha experimeit is carried out in a smoke tunnel. For determining the reattachment length analytically, three types of ribs are considered i.e., square shape, triangular shape and wedge shape. The analytical results are obtained by using software K:acka,c e (ANSYS 5.3) |
