KINETICS OF OXIDATION OF CERTAIN SULPHA DRUGS BY PEROXYDISULPHATE ION

Abstract

The elucidation of reaction mechanism for a process, besides being fascinating in itself is of great practical interest, both in the laboratory and in industrial practice. Among the various tools employed for achieving this goal, kinetic study occupies a prominent place. A kinetic study may be concerned with describing the behaviour and properties of a system in terms of macroscopically observable quantities such as pressure, tempera ture, composition, volume and time. Such a study, termed as 'phenomenological'1, is necessarily incomplete. This information should be related to molecular structure. The molecular inter pretation of kinetic processes throw a new light on molecular structure. These interpretations must themselves conform to and be consistent with the knowledge gained from such diverse studies as measurement of dipole moments, X-ray and electron .......................
