Hard surfacing of martensitic stainless steel has been carried out by gas thermal spray process using commercially available Co-based alloy powder (EWAC 1006 EE). The preheating was carried out at 250°C and 300°C. The post.heating was carried out just after laying down the coating on the base metal at temperature 650 °C, 700 °C and 750°C. The microstructure of the base metal interface and coating was studied for different preheat and post heat temperature condition and their effect on microstructure and hardness were investigated. The wear resistance property for the coating at various parameter were studied, and correlated with microstructure of these coatings. It has been found that the increase in post heating temperature enhanced the hardness of the coating and wear resistance property.en_US
