Abstract: The work presented in this dissertation deals with the development of software for drawing noise contours inside the IGI Airport, New Delhi. Attention is focussed upon drawing contours based on Noise and Number Index (NNI) and Noise Exposure Forecast (NEF) Before proceeding to the actual computation, a brief review is carried out on the work of similar nature that was done by experts in the past. The review indicates that, in this field very little work has been done in the Indian context. The present work is directed towards establishing noise climate around the runways of the IGI Airport in terms of two noise rating procedures namely, NNI and NEF. An attempt has been made to compute the lateral attenuation of both NEF and NNI. The variation in NEF and NNI with distance is also studied
