Title: ASSESSMENT OF AIRCRAFT NOISE IN THE VICINITY OF AIRPORT
Authors: Rao, M. Mallikarjun

Issue Date: 2001
Abstract: Aircrafts are the single most disturbing sources of environmental noise around busy airports, which is known to cause annoyance, sleep disturbance, physiological stress, and interference in speech communication in offices, schools and disturbance in leisure activities. In the present work Noise Exposure Forecast (NEF) values are calculated at different locations based on LA(--) measurements with sound level meter in and around Indira Gandhi International Airport New Delhi. With these discrete NEF values and assuming reference flight profiles for approach and departures of aircrafts, NEF contours are also prepared using lateral attenuation noise model for aircraft noise. The communities affected by noise from aircrafts operating in and around Delhi Airport are also identified using these NEF contours
