Abstract: An experimental study on the effects of temperature. and equivalence ratio on the laminar burning velocity of compressed natural gas-air mixture has been conducted using the modified burner technique and Schlieren method. The range of measurements covered the equivalence ratio from 0.9 to 1.4 while the initial temperature varied from 300 to 500 K. The flame front area of the bunsen cone 'have been used to calculate laminar burning velocity. For each experimental run, burning velocities were calculated in the range of 300K to 500K. It is found that for the compressed natural gas-air mixture the laminar burning velocity increases with temperature and with respect to equivalence ratio, the burning velocity value is relatively less in case of lean mixture and it increases continuously as the mixture is made progressively richer, . a little beyond stoichiometric mixture i.e.( N 1.1) in most of the cases, and the curve attains the bell shape as with other hydrocarbon fuels.
