Artificial Intelligence technique provides various tools for the development of automated process planning systems. In this work a knowledge-based system has been developed which enables us to find out cutting conditions and parameters for the turned components. The system takes care of the production rules, workpiece material and tool material. It also demonstrates the tool movement to turn the workpiece into any of the desired shape. The knowledge base system developed gives the visual picture of turning the workpiece into the desired shape. The visual representation of machining with varying parameters helps in incorporating any of the changes required at any stagesen_US
