Abstract: The characteristics of boiling , tube bundle are important in a large variety of industrial heat exchange equipment. These include various types of reboilers and flooded evaporations used in power plant, refrigeration and air conditioning systems and in many chemical and petroleum process systems. Knowledge of boiling characteristics in tube bundles is there fore a must for the efficient . design of these equipment. The- complex nature of the boiling phenomenon, where in a large number of parameters influence the heat transfer rate, has not been completely understood so far. There is a need to study the , flow boiling heat transfer in tube bundles extensively, which may pave the way for rational design methods. Very little publised work is available, on tube bundle boiling heat transfer and most of these works are confined to refrigerant R-113. There is thus a lack of information for a wide range of system parameters and fluids. . In view of the above, efforts have been made in the present work to study the boiling heat transfer behavior in a 5 x 3 line tube with water both in pool as well as in cross flow "conditions. The effects of heat flux, mass flux, tube location and circumferential variation of local boiling heat _ transfer tube bundle have been analyzed. The experimental investigation was made for the following operation conditions. (i
