Abstract: | In the recent years, the metal forming industry has been striving for quality improvement and cost reduction to meet the increasing stringent specification requirements and strong competition in the world market. In the past it has been demonstrated that computer modeling using numerical methods can provide detailed information of the metal flows behavior. In metal forming operations are methods of fabricating materials into desired shape and size. This is accomplished by making the material to flow through different dies. The work was necessitated keeping in view the shop floor practice of metal forming problems to develop suitable software for analysis of flow through dies. C++ language and C++ graphics are used as a tool to solve the problem. The development of theoretical methods applied to metal forming process provides useful information about the mechanics of the process. With the Finite Element Method (F.E.M.) the velocity, strain rate, strain and stress fields can be obtained in the plastically deformed material. Although this method is powerful and fast but gives only approximate values, it requires large number of computer capabilities. |
